I've been playing recently recently with Jaiku, a Finnish competitor to Twitter.
It's been around longer that Twitter, and looks altogether more stable, but it hasn't enjoyed the hype that Twitter has been receiving. See previous post.
The thing that interested me about Jaiku is it's ability to add external RSS feeds to your 'Jaiku Stream', and then supply one aggregated feed for them all that you can subscribe to directly.
What's the benefit of that I hear you ask? Well with a little javascript I can now view posts from this blog, new pictures added to my Flickr Account, webpages saved into Del.icio.us, posts to my bands blog, events from upcoming.org and shared items saved in my Google reader account.
Pretty cool? It wasn't too technical and you can continue to add other feeds via Jaiku.
I tried to achieve the same result using Yahoo's excellent Yahoo Pipes, a service that lets you mash up RSS feeds without too much technical skill, but I couldn't get the feed to output correctly.
What has this got todo with anything? Well I wanted a way to communicate to my team the interesting stuff I was looking at whether it was through Del.icio.us or Google reader or anything else. The problem was all of those things sit in disparate websites or feeds. This way they are in one place.

Note - Special thanks to http://feeds.theblogresource.com for the code to display the output of the feed
